One such example was this side mission and similar examples from other open-world games and what caught our attention was the way it was acquired. A poster was placed on the wall as Marsden walked by, and required him to walk up to it to learn its details. If Rockstar hadn't been playing the game specifically to demonstrate the feature to us, it would have been all too easy to miss the poster's significance altogether. Sign- posting is typically a key feature in this style of game, with even the most arbitrary tasks represented by a clutter of icons on the map. Red Dead Redemption is a direct challenge to this, featuring only the most essential details on its radar, and constantly trying to sidetrack you with spontaneous activities.
